ABOUT THE ARTIST

Melanie Rodel (b. 1980) is a Swiss multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores the relationship between nature, human emotion, and perception. Rooted in Swiss cultural traditions and influenced by ritual, visionary art, and performative expression, her artistic language moves between organic abstraction, emotional intensity, and poetic visual storytelling.

The combination of experimental materiality and intuitive formal expression forms the foundation of her artistic practice. Through light, shadow, texture, and organic structures, she creates atmospheric visual worlds shaped by emotional depth and sensory experience. Texture, gesture, and layered surfaces play a central role in her visual language, often evoking dreamlike states suspended between memory, ritual, and emotional perception.

Melanie investigates how bodies, fragments of nature, and abstract forms communicate with one another, and how inner movements become visible through these interactions. Her work oscillates between fragility and strength, stillness and movement, intimacy and distance. Symbolic imagery, intuitive processes, and immersive visual narratives shape works that blur the boundaries between inner and outer worlds.

Her interdisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and performative exploration of the human body. She gained international recognition through award-winning bodypainting championships across Europe, Asia, and the United States, where the body became a living canvas for symbolism, metamorphosis, and emotional storytelling.

Travel continually expands her artistic perspective and reflects diverse cultural influences and lived experiences. Encounters with people, landscapes, cultural rituals, and quiet moments of observation become the starting point for works that place movement and stillness, memory and intuition, proximity and distance into dialogue.

Her work has been presented in exhibitions, cultural projects, and international art and performance contexts. In 2020, she created the official poster for the Berner Fasnacht, reflecting her longstanding connection to Swiss cultural heritage and visual storytelling.

Through immersive imagery and intuitive processes, her work invites reflection on human connection, perception, and the fragile relationship between inner and outer worlds.

Melanie Rodel lives and works in Switzerland.
